VICTORY!!

We went to the basketball game tonight to cheer on the Lady Wolverines.  It must have helped because they won.  Miles got to spend time with lots of his friends.  Some were home from college still on break so we got to visit with lots of people.  What a fun exciting game it was!!

Korean Candy

The picture says it all!!!  Miles loves his candy from Korea.  He thinks the little stick candies are cute!!  The taste is unique (similar to a sweet rice cake).  I happen to love the taste of it and so does Mike.  I even took some to work to share with my friends and they also liked it.  We will share some with the grandparents this weekend.  It was definately a hit!!!

Scooby Scooby Doo-Where Are You??

Miles is having a love affair with Scooby.  He loves to watch the movies but then gets scared and needs one of us by his side.  My sister gave him a giant scooby pillow and he adores it.  My friend Beth gave him scooby christmas PJs and it is wash and wear, wash and wear.  He came down for breakfast today and had his spidey glove on (which he fell asleep wearing) and his scooby pajamas.  This kid just cracks me up.

My BFF came over Christmas for a visit and brought her two children.  Graycn is 9 months older than Miles and they spent most of the evening fighting and bartering over Scooby.  There just wasn't enough of him to go around.  She is also having a love affair with Scooby.  I remember a certain little blonde girl who also was OBSESSED with Scooby back in her younger days.  Hmmm I wonder if I could get PJs like those in my size HAHA!!

Never Say Never!!!!

Oh yes, we let Miles ride not one ride but two.  We went to Applebees today and enjoyed lunch courtesy of  our Alabama family (Thanks so much for the gift card!!!)  After that we went on our Walmart run and Miles said Pease Momma and of course I melted.  The horse and Tigger were calling our name.

We had barely left the house all weekend and we did nothing on New Years (eve or day) so this was our big outing.  I just like to hibernate when it is so cold and windy.  I used to always think parents were such suckers to let their kids con them out of money to ride those things but of course that was before I became a parent.  My sister always said the perfect parents have no children and boy was she right.  I have eaten a lot of crow in the last year so NEVER SAY NEVER!!!  He was so sweet while he was on there waving saying Hi momma- then the ride ended.  Things just got ugly from there so lets just say everyone in Walmart new we were leaving and Miles was not happy.  We are definately working with a strong-willed child who is two and a half.  I can feel the gray hairs getting worse as I type this.  I love him dearly but man he knows how to push my buttons.  It is back to work tomorrow and back to school for Miles and Mike so no more sleeping in for a few days!!

From Korea With Love

We received a lovely holiday package from Our Korean Family (Miles' Foster Family).  We simply refer to them as "our" family because they hold a special  place in our hearts.  We love corresponding with them through letters and blogging.  I love to learn about their culture and about their everyday lives.  I also want them to know that Miles is thriving and is  very loved.  I am sure they are surprised with how much he has changed and grown.

We got a neat basket of candy wrapped in a beautiful pink scarf.  They also sent each of us a beautiful, detailed christmas/new year card.  I absolutely love the Korean greeting cards because they have such artful details.  They are different than the cards here-very gorgeous and unique.  We received it on December 31st but wanted to wait until today to open it. A big Thank You to them -Kamsahamnida.

Happy New Year 2012 to all our friends and family!!

Christmas Memories

Holiday Recap 2011

We celebrated Christmas Eve at our house and hosted my immediate family.  After everyone was gone we got ready for Santa's arrival.   We left him chocolate chip cookies and a note.  Miles said he and uncle Toby saw him earlier hiding behind the shrubs waiting for us to go to bed!!!  When we woke up on Christmas morning Santa had arrived indeed.  Miles got a Thomas The Train Table and Chair Set, a microphone, an MU football, clothes, sesame street high tops and a book.  His gift from Santa was the microphone which was the one item he had asked for from him.  It was a great morning at the Trussells.

Christmas Day was spent with the Trussell Family down at the farm.  We had a wonderful day with great weather.  The kids enjoyed playing outside and we enjoyed laughing and visiting with each other.  Mike's parents winter in Arizona but since it was their year to host Christmas they came back for ten days.

Christmas evening we went to my parents house and enjoyed more visiting and gift opening.  Needless to say I am very grateful to be able to go to my parents which is the house I grew up in.  After my mom's serious medical issues this year it really puts a perspective on what's important.  Jesus is the "REASON FOR THE SEASON" and although the food, presents and parties are great I really enjoyed our evenings at home enjoying Miles and feeling grateful for the life we have.  We hope you all had a great Christmas Season.
