A Boy's Best Friend

Miles and Winston have a love hate relationship. Miles loves to play with him and tease him but feels deceived when Winston takes advantage of situations. Miles left his apple slices on the ottoman in a little dish yesterday and Winston swiped them. He only left for a minute to go upstairs but they were gone in a blink of an eye. Winston is a pretty good sport but if he feels slighted on the attention he will bark and whine until he gets some lovin. I love seeing my two fellas together and I cherish my time with them. Winston has been with me through so many seasons of my life and I have shared many a secret with him I know he will take to the grave. He could have his paw twisted however if the right chunk of cheese came along!!!

Whistle While I Work

Okay-Why is it that housework is so fun when we are little??? We are so eager to help and joyful while doing our tasks.

Then this dreaded thing called adulthood creeps up on us and rears its' ugly head. It forces us to get up early and go from sun up to sun down. Suddenly the cleaning is not so fun anymore. It is a necessity of life if we want clean dishes and clean clothes to wear.

There are some things I really don't mind and secretly kind of enjoy. I love a clean bathroom with a shiny vanity and clean unspotted mirrors. This just makes me happy.

For now I am glad that Miles is having fun with chores and begs me to let him help. He always says "I do mama" "I do dishes!" He is definately in training to be a good helpful husband someday and not a lazy slug for some poor woman to clean up after. Now if I can just keep this up for the next decade or so we will be in good shape!!! Have a great week.

Craft Time

Miles has really started to enjoy doing crafts. My sister "Aunt Cee" made him an art kit with all the basic goodies a two year old could need including round safety first scissors/glue sticks/paint/note cards/markers and crayons. We keep them in a tub so we can just pull it out when the mood strikes.

He loves his Wonder Pets coloring/sticker book. We also like to cut pictures out of magazines and glue them on note cards. Hmm could this be the start of a future Hallmark career?? We shall see.

Goodbye Summer-Hello Fall!!!

Even though summer is not officially over the temperatures today certainly feel "fallish". The high today is supposed to be 72. Simply beautiful weather.

The things we love most about summer are:

Swimming
Ice Cream
Fresh Watermelon
Bare Feet
Staying up late and sleeping in
No coats or jackets
Sitting out on the deck
Water Fights
Watering Flowers-Just to name a few

Summer, we will sure miss you and can't wait until next year. We celebrated Grandma and Grandpa Trussell's 50th wedding anniversary and also made our first family trip to Branson and Springfield. These were great times for us and helped make summer of 2011 quite memorable.

Gotcha Day!!

It has been one year ago today since we received our most precious gift. Time really does go so quickly. It was a bittersweet day knowing our joy was coming from another family's loss. It was also hard to think about his birthmother's difficult decision.

We are so grateful God chose us to be Miles' parents. He has a smile that completely lights up a room and melts his mama and daddy's heart. His laugh is infectious and he has a wonderful sense of humor. My favorite words that I love to hear him say are:

Ight=alright
cucucopter=helicopter
baby hamburber=little sausage biscuit
ice otter=fly swatter
eee=brushing teeth (I guess because I tell him to go eee when I brush his front teeth)
mama voom voom=go for ride in mama's car
dada voom voom=go for ride in daddy's car
peas=please
uv u=love you

He is in the 50th percentile for weight and height and wears a size 8 shoe. It makes me sad to see his little shoes we brought him home in. He has had 4 haircuts since we brought him home. He loves to wear hats and loves his shoes. He is fashion conscious.

We went for his checkup today and also for a haircut. Then Miles chose Burger King for a baby hamburber lunch treat. He got a new scooby doo movie also. His allergies have been bad so we stayed in and played tonight. We just love being together.
