How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?

Miles really loves his stuffed animals- especially his dogs. He also loves his canine brother Winston. He talks to his stuffed animals and kisses them frequently. He likes to surround himself with them when he sleeps. It has officially been confirmed that "Dog Is Man's Best Friend" and in the Trussell household we couldn't agree more!! Dogs Rock!!

Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful!!

How can we go from beautiful 70 degree weather last week to snow and freezing temps this week??? Please spring weather come back!!! We are all getting cabin fever and my daffodils and tulips are begging for mercy!!HAHA

Spring Has Sprung

Well it has been quite some time since i have blogged. Basketball is finally over for the time being at our house. It is always a hard transition when it is over and although we love it and enjoy watching it it is also nice to have some down time!!! Mike would definately disagree with that but I am simply speaking for myself and Miles and Winston. We are so proud of the Lady Wolverines winning the district championship this year!!!

We have been walking in the evenings and taking Miles and Winston in the stroller. Miles is saying more words each week and loves watching the birds and squirrels. He takes his cell phone each evening when we go on our outing. He has really started playing with his stuffed animals and likes to feed them and give them drinks.

My dad had shoulder replacement this last week and is getting along quite well. We enjoyed Grandma staying with us while he was in the hospital. Miles loved waking up and eating breakfast with grandma!!!

I really feel we are in a routine now and am soooo ready for warmer weather. My mind has really been on all the people of Japan and the tragedy they have endured. I would get on a plane tomorrow if it were possible and go help out where I could. Please pray for them and count our blessings each day!!! Have a great week.

Blog Award

Recently I was given a blog award from Grace at smallcoppercoins.blogspot.com. Grace is a wonderful writer and I enjoy reading about her life. She is also expecting her second son in May!!! Thank you Grace.

These are the rules of this particular award:
1. Thank & link back to the person who gave me me the award. (see above)
2. Share 7 things about myself.
3. Award (up to) 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Make sure I contact these bloggers to let them know about the award.

So here are 7 things about me, the award-winning rambler!

1) My Best Friend and I have been friends since before kindergarten. We were both born in October and our dad's share and the same first name-Earl (weird huh??). We still talk at least every other day on the phone. We both have late in life children who will be in the same grade except she has a daughter and I have a son. We have always lived in the same town as each other until now and we now are about one hour and 15 minutes away from each other!!

2) I am not squemish and I love helping with office surgeries. I love helping suture, excise, drain and pack anything that needs tending. A little gross but I am a nurse you know so I guess I picked the right profession!!

3) I am SCARED TO DEATH of mice!!

4) I am a good speller and won several spelling bees in grade school. I made it to the county spelling bee one year.

5) I was born on Halloween and love it. My parents had wonderful parties for me when I was little with hayrides, weenie roasts and costumes. I still love Halloween and would even if it wasn't my birthday.

6) I love garage sales and flea markets. There is no better way to start a weekend than a nice sunny morning drinking coffee and going to sales with my girlfriends!!

7) My dream car would be a red "67" mustang even though I am horrible at driving a stick shift. Red is my most favorite color.

I cannot think of any bloggers right now although I know there are probably several who deserve this award as well. I will work on that but right now I am VERY tired and need sleep HAHA so to bed I go!!! Thanks again Grace!!!

Happy Korean New Year

February 3rd is the first day of the Korean Lunar New Year also called Seollal. It falls on a different day each year and is one of the country's biggest celebrations. It is a public holiday and last three days. Many people travel to their hometowns or areas where their ancestors live.

House Cleaning is one of the main customs on New Year's Eve as well as burning bamboo sticks to ward off evil spirits. The next morning special honor is also paid to the elders of the family and commonly the youngest members will do a deep bow to greet the elders at the start of the day. This is referred to as SaeBae. Most people also wear their traditional dress known as hanboks. The elders will give gifts to the youngest family members and exchange well-wishes for health and prosperity for the new year. Typically new crisp money is the most common gift given by elders.

Wonderful feasts are prepared including the traditional rice cake soup called Tteokguk as well as fruits, traditional cookies and nuts. The food preparation usually starts way ahead of time.

One of the most interesting facts is that all Koreans turn a year older on New Years instead of their actual birthday. We wish all of our Korean family and friends a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. We sent a card to Miles' foster family along with new pictures so we hope they received it in time for their holiday. Best Wishes!!!! We hope to always keep Korean traditions special so Miles will never forget what a special place it really is and how important it is to our family.

Blizzard Conditions!!!

We will remember this week for a long time!!!! Praise God we still have electricity. Today is appropriately Ground Hog Day and let me tell you I feel like a ground hog. I just want to eat, sleep and pop my head out once in a while to check out the situation!!! We will be pulling out all our tricks today to keep Miles entertained because it is too cold to be outside for any length of time.

I am seeing cushions off the couch, Curious George Marathon on DVD, hide and seek and basically pure havoc!!! Our clinic has been cancelled for three days so the three of us have been spending lots of time together. Maybe I can talk Mike into helping me hang some stuff on the walls. I already cleaned out two closets so maybe I will clean the hall closet!!! Hope everyone stays warm and doesn't go too stir crazy!!!
